Positive Review
I have enjoyed my Ford Escape. It has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned with few mechanical problems, mostly normal wear and tear. For an SUV it gets very good gas mileage, even still being over 10 years old. I will most likely buy another other one once this one has seen its better days. I recommend this vehicle if you are looking for a small, yet versitile SUV.
Critical Review
I wouldn't recommend this vehicle I've had nothing but problems. Brake lines failed, catalytic converter failed, interior is peeling, failed wheel bearing, bad control arms, electronics don't work. I will never ever buy another Ford.

One of the best driving cars I've ever driven even at 260,000+ miles. A great suv. Great engine. The only major issue was a pcm problem, which when replaced everything was fixed. Great parts. I take care of it on oil changes, transmission fluid changes (every 25000 miles due to an unchangeable internal filter), transfer case and rear differential oil changes as needed. One of Fords best cars.
We bought this car brand new, had to replace transmission at 85,000 miles. I read that's kind of the downfall of the escape. Here it is 2024 almost 25 and she's still on the road. It handles great in the Winter and is a blast in the Summertime River trips. It can haul a lot and is easy to keep clean. It has been the best car I have ever had. Never will I sell her.
never let me down not once I abused it and it took
nope
only know about the one I have. this thing has been across country pulled behind a motorcoach and driving it solo multiple times. I really haven't been nice to this car at all, except for changing the oil always. this 2001 ford escape xls 2.0 4x4 has been an awesome vehicle on road off road other than normal maintenance. this car has proven itself time, and time again never let me down ever.great car all around I won't be getting rid of mine.
Reliable, Quick in-town driving, Spacious
Zippie little SUV that due to its somewhat boxy rear-end has more cargo space than other small SUVs I’ve used. As these Escapes got newer, they downsized the interior space over the years. These earlier releases also had less electronics issues. I have 280,000 miles on mine. Same engine & transmission. Just recently had to replace AC. Pretty incredible for a pretty basic Ford.
Price, reliable, lots of room
Old
I love this car so much! I bought a white 2007 Ford Escape used several years ago and this car is amazing for the price. I’ve had very few issues with it and even though it’s so old it’s so reliable. I drive it states away often to visit family and it runs smooth!!!
Roomy. Drives great
Uses more fuel than a 4 cylinder
I have a 2005 Ford Escape Limited. I bought the SUV back in 2019 with 196,000 miles. Now I have 207,000 miles. Great SUV. It is great in the winter. It's a V6 engine. Plenty of engine power. I would recommend that vehicle.
Great driver
Gas mileage not great
I love my 2005 Ford Escape Limited. I bought it with 196,000 miles. Now it has 207,000 miles. It has a V6 engine and has plenty of power. I would recommend a 2005 Ford Escape. I like the short wheelbase. It is a 103.1 inch wheelbase. Comfortable driving on the highway. I would buy another Ford Escape like this one again
I basically picked this exact car after renting one for a trip. I have enjoyed everything about it including the height, the space, and the easy driving. It fits me perfectly and has held up despite its age. I still get 24 MPG on the highway and its 16 years old! At this age it has had all the underpinnings replaced such as the tie rods, and U-joints. I bought it for $7800 in 2016. That's 8 years but have had minimal costs compared to making payments on a car.
