2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9 Review

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 is an electric midsize 3-row SUV with a max range of up to 335 miles. It will be out in the U.S. in the first half of 2025. Pricing starts at $60,555.

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 (formerly and briefly known as the Ioniq 7) will soon be among the first 3-row all-electric SUVs from a mainstream manufacturer. It will not only join the Kia EV9 at that forefront but will share its platform, as Hyundai and Kia are corporate kin. That’s a good thing because the Kia EV9 is a winner, figuratively and literally, taking home our Best Buy Award for 3-row EV. Let the sibling rivalry commence, just as with these automakers’ respective 3-row gasoline SUVs, the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride.

The standard powertrain consists of one electric motor mounted at the rear wheels, but a dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration is optional. The range is estimated to go as high as 335 miles, likely for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) model. It also has impressive charge times similar to those of the Kia EV9: 10 to 80 percent battery capacity in just 24 minutes with DC Fast Charging.

There are other 7-passenger/3-row electric SUVs available, but most are costlier luxury vehicles. Knowing what we know about Hyundai’s excellent craftsmanship and features set over the past several years, the Ioniq 9 could be a credible – and lower-cost – alternative to models like the new Volvo EX90, Tesla Model X, and Rivian R1S. Another family-friendly EV with 3-row seating worth mentioning is the Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 Price

We expect the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 to start in the mid-$50,000 range and cross the $70,000 mark when fully loaded. For reference, a base Kia EV9 starts at $56,395, including destination fee, and spans to over $75,000 for the top GT-Line trim.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 Range

Hyundai estimates a maximum range of up to 335 miles for the Hyundai Ioniq 9. Using the Kia EV9 as a measuring stick, most trims will likely have a max range of a little under 300 miles.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 Release Date

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 will launch in North America in the first half of 2025.
