Positive Review
I'll drive this thing until the wheel fall off.....it goes anywhere I need it to, and probably some places I shouldn't go. Yes, it's an older vehicle, but overall it's comfortable and pretty reliable, the fact that it's 18 years old not withstanding.... Sure, stuff breaks, but it's pretty user friendly to fix. I got this one to replace my old one which was totaled in an accident, my daughter and I walked away without a scratch, which impressed me. Hence the reason I own another
Critical Review
I have had problems with the computer box. It's been changed 5 times. The jeep shut off several times while driving on the freeway. The dealers can't fix the problem, only keep saying it's the box....need help to get to the bottom of this.

Sharp exterior, Premium materials on interior, Bulletproof engine
Needed additional trim levels, offer 4.0L on each trim level
We had a '94 Cherokee Sport 4-door 4.0L 6cyl that I loved. Traded it in for a new '97 Cherokee Sport 4-door that had a few additional options but mechanically the same and in the summer of '97 we got a '97 Grand Cherokee Laredo that had the same bulletproof engine and 4WD system as the Cherokee but with a larger footprint and less off-road user and more family focused. More premium materials on the interior and more aerodynamic with more options like a V8 for towing larger & heavier trailers than the 4.0L is rated for.
Great in the snow!
I have had this vehicle for a long time and it has been a great running vehicle.
My '95 Grand Cherokee 4x4 is 5 miles short of 300,000 miles. Original engine, original tranny, the usual issues since new (1 radiator, 2 starters, 1 alternator). By far, this is the BEST vehicle I've ever owned, and I've had a few. It's completely reliable even with all those miles, and super comfortable (and she carries all my camping equipment with room to spare). My mechanic says if I ever decide to sell it, and sell to someone besides him, he'll haunt me for the rest of my life. The secret, as with all things, is to TAKE CARE OF IT. It's been babied since new, and it's paying off. Absolutely no regrets here.
You'll never get stuck
Needs a computer (ECU)
Interior is good just needs roof and back door plate. Runs very well very reliable vehicle and always fun too drive great for the family or just for yourself.
Reliable, great in snow
Tailgate sometimes won't open
The 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a fun vehicle, great in snow, plenty of room,. Reliable, good gas mileage ,. Heater works great, a/c works great!!, Handles nice, not too big, I love this jeep!!
Nice interior, fun to drive, not very common
Typical 5.2 jeep problems
Grand cherokees, especially the early models are the most amazing ones out there. They have comfort and style but still offer that off-road capability. The only issues I’ve ever had are the normal jeep issues that come with age.
Good suspension, engine is great.
Noisy cabin, rust front passenger side floor
Bought this suv brand new in 1995, very proud of it. Had synthetic oil from day one. Engine and transfer case are still original. The transmission went at 130k. It was replaced and shortly after the torque converter went. Had replaced the water pump, belt pulley, A/C condenser, the vehicle information center (turns out the solder on the connector broke, just had to resolder), headlights upgraded as the original is too dim, muffler, cat converter, front and rear bearings and seals. Front passenger power seat motor is broken. It is not quiet inside, but I got used to it after all this time. Also, the front passenger floor has rust because of the A/C water coming back inside, really bad design. It is still one click start in the morning, engine's still great. My son who is 22 drives it now. It is my most reliable unreliable car.
Love it
Old
