Like the idea of Jeep off-road versatility and open-air fun, but need something that is also practical, fuel-efficient and affordable on any budget? The 2016 Jeep Renegade is the answer to these and so many more questions. Opt for the Trailhawk trim and you’ll get genuine Jeep off-road fortitude.
You May Not Like This Car If...
The Renegade’s base turbocharged engine comes only with a manual transmission. If you want an automatic, you’ll have to step up to the 2.4-liter Tigershark, which we think lacks refinement. The Renegade’s 9-speed automatic got off to a shaky start, although the company promises the 2016 version is good to go.
